actividade física no envelhecimento.
Introduction: Several studies point towards physical activity having a positve and meaningful role in aging. This study aimed to assess this role objectively, as well as compare its contribution to aging with cognitive reserve’s role. Method: Our convenience sample was composed of 39 healthy subjects, with ages between 65 and 86. After a brief clinical interview, ch subject completed the CRIq, the Digit Symbol Substitution test, inverse Digit-Span and Stroop Test. We used Pearson’s correlation coeficiente and multiple regression analysis. Results: No significative correlations were found between any od the cogntiive measures and the physical activity measures. Cognitive reserve was, on this study, the only contributor to cognition. Conclusions: For future studies, we suggest more objective measures for physical acvitiy, as well was a wider and more representative sample.
