Abstract(s)
The increase in exports of Oport wine led to the founding of an institution
to regulate and supervise its production. The new Instituto do Vinho do Porto
acquired an old property to install its headquarters and to adapting it to
its new role, was chosen the celebrated interior designer, Fiel da Fonseca
Viterbo. Renowned for his exquisite taste and attention to detail, he planned
and accompanied the whole work of remodeling and building decoration.
For the interior, he conceived a decorative unit which unfolds in comfortable
and bright environments, in the wake of the revival of English influence in
the Adam style where reigns the symmetry and balance and where nothing
was left to chance.
