Abstract(s)
realidade no nosso país.
Oral diseases are one of the major health problems of the population in Portugal, one of the European countries with the worst level of oral hygiene. However, we know that most of these pathologies is avoidable. It is urgent to join forces for Oral Health, which is closely linked to overall health and personnel welfare, to become increasingly a reality in our country. The initial phase of the first traineeship module was based on a diagnostic evaluation in USFCO, which identified the priority needs in the area of Oral Health on the basis of initial training, professional experience, postgraduate training and perception of health professionals on the issue. The results of the cross-sectional, descriptive and exploratory study carried out, have a high prevalence of oral diseases in elderly respondents, affecting their daily life in many aspects, but with modifiable risk factors. This diagnostic led to a community intervention to promote Oral Health habits among the elderly of Day Care Centers located in the municipality of Oeiras, in project implementation and assessment entitled "The smile of Tomorrow, we make it Today". The same project aims to raise awareness of health professionals to the importance of practices and teachings recommended by the National Plan of Oral Health Promotion, since the questionnaires and observation applied revealed a gap in this area. The third traineeship module has purchased a new breadth, directing itself to the children and young people heading to the appointment of Stomatology, Hospital Egas Moniz. Elaborated a diagnosis of the situation, emerged the need to create the project "Preventing +" in collaboration with the Oral-Hygienists of reference which came closer to these users of Oral Health preventive treatments. It is cast the first stone for a challenge of changing behavior in this county and it is concluded that the communication of health professionals and the Empowerment of users can make all the difference in this challenge to bring Oral Health to everyone.
