This report presents a detailed overview of the internship I completed at American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT), within the Meeting Planning and Sourcing department. The objective of this internship was to explore the strategic and operational dimensions of corporate event planning, while also analyzing how digital tools and emerging technologies are transforming the field of event management. Throughout the internship, I worked closely with internal teams and external clients, primarily focusing on MSD, a major pharmaceutical company. My role allowed me to take part in various stages of the event planning process: from the submission and validation of events via platforms like MSD&Moi, to the hotel sourcing and venue selection through Cvent, and finally to the logistical coordination and follow-up reporting conducted via Meeting Central. I also assisted in managing budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, including the French DMOS law. A key focus of the report is the integration of technology in event management, particularly using digital platforms, AI tools, and hybrid event solutions. Platforms such as Cvent, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams played a central role in the organization and delivery of both in-person and virtual events, enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and participant engagement. The report also examines the impact of automation, data analytics, and AI-driven personalization on improving communication, streamlining operations, and refining client experiences. This internship was not only a professional learning experience but also a personal milestone in my academic and career journey. It allowed me to apply my background in digital communication and marketing to a real-world setting, and to develop skills in project management, cross-functional collaboration, and digital strategy. The final part of the report includes a reflection on the challenges and future opportunities in the field of event planning, particularly in the context of ongoing digital transformation. Recommendations are proposed to optimize the use of technology, improve organizational workflows, and enhance client satisfaction in a fast-evolving industry.
