Esta dissertação pretende apresentar um percurso histórico, geográfico, pastoral e missionário daquele que é um dos maiores eventos da Igreja Católica. Iniciadas pelo Papa São João Paulo II em 1986, as Jornadas Mundiais da Juventude são ainda hoje um fenómeno mundial onde milhões de jovens de todo o mundo procuram encontrar-se com o sucessor de Pedro. Neste encontro das Jornadas Mundiais da Juventude a Igreja quer, por um lado, mostrar o seu rosto jovem, e por outro apresentar aos jovens o rosto de Cristo, na expectativa de incutir nos jovens um novo entusiasmo e rejuvenescimento de serem cristãos, e assim, serem protagonistas e evangelizadores.
This dissertation aims to present a historical, geographical, pastoral and missionary journey of what is one of the biggest events of the Catholic Church. Initiated by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1986, the World Youth Days are still today a worldwide phenomenon where millions of young people from all over the world seek to meet the successor of Peter. In this gathering of World Youth Days, the Church wants, on the one hand, to show its young face, and on the other hand, to present the face of Christ to young people, hoping to instill in them a new enthusiasm and rejuvenation to be Christians, and thus, to be protagonists and evangelizers.
