This study validated the internal, external, and reliability structures of the short, 8-item Child-Adolescent Perfectionism Scale (CAPS-8) in 835 Portuguese students (aged 12-20, 53% girls). It also examined structural invariance by gender and age. Participants completed the CAPS-8 and measures related to school outcomes (teacher relationships, future expectations). Confirmatory factor analysis supported the two-factor model (self-oriented, PAO; socially prescribed, PSP) with high internal consistency (Omega > .90) and invariant structure across groups. Correlations with school outcomes were small but significant: school ability was negatively associated with both dimensions, and school satisfaction and future expectations were positively associated with both. The CAPS-8 demonstrates adequate psychometric properties for the rapid assessment of perfectionism.
