Abstract(s)
satisfação do cuidador.
Mediana do tempo despendido enquanto
cuidador: 7h/dia, 49 h/semana e 7 dias/semana.
Introduction: The caring process affects the daily life of the caregiver, being associated with significant losses and constant readjustments of the trajectories. Thus, it becomes essential to know the characteristics of the caregiver, to evaluate their satisfaction and what influences it. Caregiver satisfaction is an important indicator of the quality of care provided by the health team, and its evaluation is fundamental. Aim of the study: To characterize the caregiver of the palliative patient; to evaluate patient’s satisfaction; to identify the factors that influence it. Material and Methods: A descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and analytical study was carried out through a sample of 292 caregivers and 376 patients, to be followed by two teams of Palliative Care Units, one Hospital Support Team in Palliative Care and three Community Teams of Support in Palliative Care of the National Health System of Continental Portugal and Autonomous Regions, during the year of 2017. Using questionnaires prepared by the Observatório Português de Cuidados Paliativos were used for the characterization of the patient and the caregiver, FACIT-PAL to evaluate the satisfaction of the needs of the patient and FAMCARE for the assessment of caregiver satisfaction. Results: Caregivers are mostly women, with an average of almost 60 years and domestic (40%). Median time of caregiver: 7h/ day, 49h/ week and 7 days/ week. Caregivers were globally satisfied with the palliative care provided to their relative. In relation to the information given, the shorter length of stay the patient in the team, the greater the level of satisfaction the caregivers presented. In relation to physical care, the older the patient is, the more satisfied the caregivers presented themselves with the care provided. Conclusions: Caregivers were globally satisfied with the care given to their relative, being the information given and the physical care provided to the patient were the factors that have been shown to influence this satisfaction. Further studies are needed to determine the factors influencing the satisfaction of the palliative caregiver in Portugal.
