A dissertação «O migrante e o refugiado no projeto pastoral do Papa Francisco: uma leitura teológico-prática a partir das Mensagens para o Dia Mundial do Migrante e do Refugiado (2014-2024)» investiga o pensamento e o agir pastoral do Papa Francisco diante do fenómeno migratório contemporâneo. A partir da análise hermenêutica das mensagens papais publicadas entre 2014 e 2024 e de outros documentos magisteriais, o autor identifica o migrante e o refugiado como locus theologicus, ou seja, lugar privilegiado da manifestação de Deus e da ação evangelizadora da Igreja. A pesquisa propõe uma leitura teológico-prática sustentada pelo método «ver, julgar e agir», articulando a teologia da migração com a pastoral da misericórdia e a cultura do encontro. O trabalho conclui que o projeto pastoral do Papa Francisco convida a Igreja a assumir uma missão samaritana e inclusiva, comprometida com a dignidade humana, a justiça social e a integração intercultural dos migrantes e refugiados.
The dissertation «The Migrant and the Refugee in Pope Francis’s Pastoral Project: A Theological-Practical Reading of the Messages for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (2014–2024)» explores Pope Francis’s theological and pastoral vision regarding migration in the modern world. Through a hermeneutical analysis of the papal messages from 2014 to 2024 and related magisterial texts, the study identifies migrants and refugees as a locus theologicus, a privileged space for experiencing God’s presence and for the Church’s evangelizing mission. Using the «see, judge, and act» methodology, the research integrates the theology of migration with the pastoral principles of mercy and the culture of encounter. The study concludes that Pope Francis’s pastoral approach calls the Church to become a Samaritan and inclusive community, committed to human dignity, social justice, and intercultural integration.
