Abstract(s)
Após uma Breve Apresentação do Mestrando seguem-se os passos previstos no Projeto
de Estágio, ou seja, a Introdução, o Cuidar, a Educação, a Gestão e a Investigação. No
capítulo do Cuidar, de acordo com a experiência clínica do mestrando, apresentam-se e
comentam-se alguns casos clínicos de doentes oncológicos ou com demência ou com
efeitos indesejáveis da Radioterapia e, a propósito, destacam-se os aspetos mais
relevantes de cada doente e a sua importância para o Estágio designadamente o controlo
sintomático e os aspetos psicológicos, familiares, sociais, espirituais e religiosos dando
primazia à Qualidade de Vida.
Sublinhamos a relevância da Comunicação, da promoção da Esperança, de um sentido
para a vida e da Dignidade da Pessoa doente.
A Educação é descrita como fator determinante da qualidade da assistência prestada aos
doentes. A Gestão desenvolve-se destacando as Unidades de Cuidados Paliativos e as
Equipas de Suporte no Hospital e no Domicílio e chamando a atenção para a diferença
significativa entre o desejável e o que existe. Na Investigação descrevem-se marcos do
método científico e o tipo de trabalhos de Cuidados Paliativos feitos em Portugal.
Na conclusão fazemos a síntese dos elementos do Estágio que foram mais importantes
para o mestrando e referimos alguns aspetos Éticos com interesse nos Cuidados Paliativos
e em Medicina.
After a brief presentation of the Master degree candidate we follow the phases admited in the Project, that is, Introduction, Care, Education, Management and Investigation. In the chapter of Care, in accordance with the trainee clinical experience, we present and make comments about some patients with oncologic diseases or dementia or side effects of Radiotherapy and bring out the more relevant aspects of each patient and his importance to the traineeship as the symptom control and the psycological, familiar, social and religious appearance giving primacy to Quality of Life. We underline the relevance of Communication, promotion of hope, a sense for life and the Dignity of diseased Person. The Education is the decisive element to the quality of patients assistance. In the development of Management we highlight the Palliative Care Units and the Support Teams in the Hospital and at Home, and attract for the gap between the desirable and the reality. About the Investigation the landmarks of cientific methods are described and also the works made in Portugal. In Conclusion do the synthesis of relevant data of traineeship and report some ethical aspects important for Palliative Care and Medicine.
