| dc.description.abstract | O Japão, uma potência mundial, tem sido, ao longo das décadas, um dos maiores contribuidores da ONU. No entanto, as suas tentativas de obtenção dum lugar permanente no Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas, o poder executivo da organização, têm sido frustadas. Esta dissertação analisa a mudança da política externa japonesa no período pós guerra fria e como essa política se expressou no Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas . O objectivo desta dissertação, com uma importante parte teórica, é estudar a acção do Japão no Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas como membro não permanente e perceber se as suas acções são coerentes com os princípios fundamentacionais da sua política externa, mas, também, perceber se o comportamento do Japão na organização pode ser explicado pela Teoria das Relações Internacionais. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Japan, a world economic power, has been, for the last decades, one of the top contributors for the United Nations. However, its attempts to win a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council, the executive power of the organization, have been frustrated. This dissertation analyses how the shift in Japanese foreign policy after the cold war period was translated to the United Nations Security Council. The goal of this dissertation, with an important theoretical chapter, is to study the actions of Japan in the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member and see if its actions are coherent with Japan’s official foreign policy principles and try to understand if the behavior of Japan in this organization can be explained by the Theory of International Relations. | por |
