| dc.description.abstract | The study of “Misericórdias” is essential to the history of Portuguese Early Modern Art. Based on research undertaken in the archives of the Misericórdia of Esposende, a small town at the mouth of the river Cávado, established in 1572 and focused on maritime activity, we have registered the key moments of artistic production in the church of the brotherhood, between the late sixteenth and late eighteenth century. | eng |
