Neste texto é proposto um balanço sobre a investigação feita nas últimas três décadas pela historiografia religiosa medieval portuguesa. Não podendo considerar todos os estudos realizados e temas estudados, identificam-se e destacam-se estudos em torno de três níveis de análise: o clero e as instituições regulares; o clero e as instituições seculares; e a relação entre poderes. Acerca de cada um destes níveis, é traçado o percurso e as tendências da investigação feita nestas últimas décadas.
This article provides a review of the research undertaken in the field of Portuguese medieval religious historiography in the last three decades. While not taking into consideration all studies and themes, we here identify and highlight studies across three levels of analysis: the clergy and religious institutions, the clergy and secular institutions and the prevailing power relationships. Across each of these levels, the research approaches and trends in effect over recent decades are outlined.
