A Violência Doméstica tem sido descrita na literatura como um fenómeno existente nos relacionamentos em que o seu caráter violento manifesta um impacto negativo na vítima, tanto a nível físico, psicológico, sexual, como social. Neste sentido, o presente estudo procurou caracterizar de forma geral a violência doméstica, mais concretamente através da análise das denúncias realizadas na Garda Nacional Republicana (GNR) durante o ano de 2013. Desta forma, foram analisados um total de 1852 casos. A fim de alcançar os objetivos a que nos propusemos ao longo desta investigação, realizou-se uma investigação quantitativa, numa lógica descritiva.
