This report details the learning trajectory and development of specialized competencies undertaken as part of the "Final Internship and Report" Curricular Unit for the Master's Degree in Pediatric and Child Health Nursing at the Nursing School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto (2024/2025). The clinical placement encompassed diverse contexts, specifically Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Emergency, and Pediatric Medical and Surgical Inpatient. Employing a descriptive and critically reflective methodology, this document aims to demonstrate the consolidation of master's and specialist nurse competencies across the four core domains defined by the curriculum: Care Provision, Care Management, Education and Research. The report fulfills the dual purpose of evidencing the integration of theory into practice and critically reflecting on the impact of this process on shaping the professional identity of the Pediatric and Child Health Specialist Nurse. Care provision was grounded in a humanized and collaborative approach aimed at facilitating the adaptation of children and adolescents and their families to transitions in health and illness. Experiences in pain management, communication with children and families, parental support, and intervening in clinical complexity situations were particularly emphasized. Within the care management domain, competencies in leadership, planning, and decision making were substantially enhanced, focusing on the optimal utilization of human and material resources, strengthening interprofessional teamwork, and ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care. Research served as a foundational axis, highlighted by the completion of an Integrative Literature Review on the effects of screen exposure on adolescent’s sleep patterns, thus contributing significantly to evidence based practice. Education was addressed as a continuous, dynamic process, involving both self-development and peers’ capacitation, evidenced by the delivery of inservice training and active engagement in scientific and pedagogical events. The final reflection underscores the transformative nature of this educational pathway, demonstrating considerable personal and professional growth and reinforcing the commitment to excellence in care quality, safety, and humanization, as well as to the ongoing evolution of the Nursing discipline.
