Abstract(s)
a impulsividade.
A impulsividade
Video game disorder is understood as the persistent and recurrent use of video games, often with other players, which seriously impair the quality of life of the individual, often arising related to psychological distress and impulsivity. Due to the issue of studies in the national context, the present study explores the predictive role of psychological distress and impulsivity in video game disorder, in a sample of Portuguese youth and adults. The sample consisted of 267 subjects, aged between 18 and 40 years who completed a Sociodegraphic Questionnaire, the Video Game Disorder Scale, such as Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scales and the Baratt Impulsiveness Scale. No significant differences were found in the Video game Disorder scale as a function of gender, although as mean scores are higher in males; no statistically significant correlations were found between video game disorder and age, although young adults have higher scores on the Internet Game Disorder scale. Depression, anxiety and stress were positively associated with video game disorder. There was a positive correlation between the number of hours spent playing and video game disorder. An impulsivity correlates positively with Videogame disorder. These results, although merely exploratory, account for the relationship between psychological anguish, impulsivity, time spent playing and video game disorder in the Portuguese population, emphasizing the need of further studies and its implications nowadays.
