Segundo a revisão a literatura,
Schizophrenia, currently considered the most severe mental disorder, is characterized by the presence of signs and symptoms in the area of thought, perception and emotions, which affects multiple areas of functioning. According to the literature review, social support as well as the occupational dimension are referred to as protective factors and health promotion, leading thus to a better quality of life and a better perception of well-being. The objective of this work is to verify the social support and occupational dimension influence the perception that users have quality of life and wellbeing. This is a quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional sample of 30 users, the House of St John of God Health, of which 15 belong to the rehabilitation and the other 15 to a unit of the chronically ill. From the results obtained it appears that there is a positive correlation between quality of life, well-being and social support in both groups and that users with occupational activity perceive better overall well-being and quality of life and psychological dimensions of social relations . Finally, it appears that users with longer hospitalization come to their quality of life and well-being compromised. It is hoped that this research is a contribution level of knowledge in the area of health, on the importance of social support and occupational activity, protective factors, to the wellbeing and quality of life of patients with schizophrenia.
