| dc.description.abstract | A presente dissertação visa contribuir para a compreensão dos processos de legitimação a violência de Estado na perspetiva dos seus atores, nomeadamente de agentes militares. Pretende-se analisar a influência de dimensões como o tipo de violência, as prioridades estabelecidas, ou o tipo de intervenção militar (e.g. intervenção humanitária; invasão) na legitimação ou refutação do uso da violência por parte dos militares. Com vista à prossecução destes objetivos, efetuaram-se entrevistas a cinco militares. O guião de entrevista foi parcialmente adaptado do guião “Perspetivas sobre a violência de Estado” (Barbosa & Machado, 2010), sendo composto por cenários hipotéticos de intervenção militar em relação aos quais é solicitado os entrevistados que, colocando-se no papel de um comandante de uma unidade que se encontra na situação hipotetizada, se posicionem quanto às decisões que tomariam no que concerne ao uso da violência, fundamentando essas mesmas decisões. Os dados emergentes das entrevistas foram analisados recorrendo a metodologias de cariz qualitativo. Com esta investigação procurámos ampliar novos entendimentos sobre a legitimação da violência em contexto militar, considerando alguns estudos já efetuados sobre o processo de tomada de decisão e tendo como principal referência a teoria de descomprometimento moral de Bandura (1990). | por |
| dc.description.abstract | This thesis aims to contribute to the understanding of the procedures of the state’s violence legitimation from the perspective of its actors, including agents of the military. We intend to analyze the influence of dimensions as the type of violence, the priorities, or the type of military intervention (e.g. humanitarian intervention; invasion) in the legitimation or refutation of the use of violence by the military. In order to achieve these goals, we carried out interviews to five military. The interview’s guide was partially adapted from the screenplay "Perspectives on state violence" (Barbosa & Machado, 2010), consisting of hypothetical scenarios of military intervention to which respondents are asked to play role of the unit’s commander in the situation hypothesized, and placing themselves towards a decision making regarding the use of violence and justifying their decisions. The data emerging from the interviews were analyzed using qualitative methodologies. With this investigation we sought to extend new understandings about the legitimacy of violence in the military context, considering some studies already carried out on the process of decision making and its main reference to moral disengagement theory of Bandura (1990). | por |
