Abstract(s)
O principal objetivo deste estudo é identificar os obstáculos à execução das estratégias nas empresas portuguesas e fazer uma comparação com os obstáculos identificados na literatura internacional, isto é, comparar à generalidade dos outros países. Para recolher os dados das empresas portuguesas foi realizado um inquérito, principalmente, a executivos seniores e aos responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento/implementação das estratégias nas empresas portuguesas. Para recolher os dados das empresas internacionais, foi efetuada uma intensa revisão de literatura nomeadamente a documentos que já tivessem identificado uma lista de obstáculos existentes. Após a comparação dos estudos, as principais conclusões que podem ser retiradas é que existe uma aproximação da taxa de insucesso da execução das estratégias/objetivos estratégicos verificada nas empresas portuguesas e nos outros países. Foi também concluído que esta taxa de insucesso tem diminuído ao longo dos anos e é um fator relevante que influencia a performance financeira das empresas. Relativamente aos obstáculos que impedem a execução eficaz da estratégia, os resultados já são um pouco distintos, enquanto que, em Portugal, o principal obstáculo é a falta de alinhamento/coordenação entre os que desenvolvem e os que implementam a estratégia, no estudo internacional, são as atitudes culturais o principal motivo que impede uma execução eficaz.
The main goal of this study is to identify the obstacles on the execution of strategies in Portuguese companies and to make a comparison with the obstacles recognized in the international literature, i.e., to compare them with other countries. To collect the data from the Portuguese companies a survey was conducted mainly with senior executives and those responsible for the development/implementation of those strategies. To gather data from the international companies, an intensive literature review was conducted, namely to documents that had already identified a list of existing obstacles. After comparing the studies, the main conclusions that were drawn is that there is an approximation of the failure rate in the execution of strategies/strategic objectives verified in Portuguese companies and in companies from other countries. It was also concluded that this failure rate has decreased over the years and is a relevant factor that influences the financial performance of companies. Regarding the obstacles that hinder the effective execution of strategy, the results were somewhat different, while in Portugal the main obstacle is the lack of alignment/coordination between those who develop and those who implement the strategy, in the international study, cultural attitudes are the main reason that hinder an effective execution.
