O Batismo é o primeiro de todos os sacramentos. O batistério é, portanto, o pórtico de acesso à vida cristã, o lugar onde se celebra o sacramento primordial da inserção no mistério de Cristo. O trabalho desenvolve-se em três etapas: um percurso histórico sobre o lugar da celebração do Batismo, apresentando os elementos representativos de cada um dos períodos mais significativos; uma abordagem ao Ritual da Celebração do Batismo das Crianças, evidenciando as mudanças ocorridas na celebração ao longo do tempo, e um estudo das quatro partes que o compõem, vinculando-as aos espaços onde se desenrolam; e um estudo de três batistérios pós-conciliares da Diocese do Porto, com o intuito de perceber que soluções foram encontradas para dar resposta às instruções da reforma litúrgica, acolhendo simultaneamente, a tradição da Igreja e o rito que ali se celebra. O objetivo desta reflexão é valorizar o lugar do Batismo, como um espaço essencial para celebração deste sacramento e para a vivência da fé, onde todos os elementos devem ser expressão do mistério que ali se celebra.
Baptism is the first of all the sacraments. The baptistery is the gateway to the christian life, the place where the primordial sacrament of insertion into the mystery of Christ is celebrated. The work is developed in three stages: an historical journey on the place of the celebration of Baptism, presenting the representative elements of each of the most significant periods; an approach to the order of Baptism of children, framing its historical evolution of the celebration and an analysis of the four parts that compose it linking them to the spaces where they take place; and an analysis of three post-conciliar baptisteries of the Oporto Diocese, to understand what solutions have been found to fulfil the instructions of the liturgical reform merged with the tradition of the Church and the rite that is celebrated there. The aim of this reflection is to value the place of Baptism as an essential space for the celebration of this sacrament and for the experience of faith, where all the elements must be an expression of the mystery that is celebrated there.
