Abstract(s)
persistente.
The following research questions itself on the current concept of democratic consolidation in Brazil, which assumes that the regime in that country is safe and risk-free. The study is built from the empirical analysis of data on the support of Brazilian democracy and the level of trust that citizens place in democratic institutions. To this end, it was chosen the perspective of comparative politics with a culturalist approach. The trust of Brazilians in public institutions is compared with the current situation in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, all Latin American countries. Research shows that although the new democracies in question are on the list of successful cases of the Third Wave of Democratization, support for the regime is still low in Brazil and the level of distrust is very high, which can set a threat to the legitimacy of democracy from the moment the symptoms are persistent and constan
