Abstract(s)

The first part refers to the presentation of the professional practice carried out at the Lisbon Academy of Music, during the 2021/2022 school year, in the areas of instrument specialization - violin and ensemble class. The second part deals with the pedagogical intervention project, carried out at another institution - Park International School - whose theme is “The importance of traditional Portuguese repertoire in ensemble class as a motivator for violin students”. For the project, a group of students was created with the aim of having four extra violin lessons together. The repertoire was chosen by the students according to the teacher's options, all of which were traditional Portuguese pieces. The aim was to verify the impact that playing traditional Portuguese repertoire together has on the students, both in terms of individual study and at a performative and motivational level. The methodology used was qualitative, based on action research. The results showed a 150% increase in individual study days, culminating in 100% of the students feeling more confident during the performance.
