| dc.description.abstract | A presença de dominĂąncia de um membro inferior em relação ao seu contra lateral, leva a esperar a existĂȘncia de diferenças funcionais. O objetivo desta tese visou a identificação de diferenças entre membro inferior dominante (DOM) e nĂŁo dominante (NDOM), no que diz respeito Ă estabilidade articular (JS), avaliada por medidas de rigidez dinĂąmica articular (DJS), rigidez vertical (KVERT) ou rigidez de membro inferior (KLEG). A integração de elementos conceptuais e metodolĂłgicos foi desenvolvida em diferentes capĂtulos. O primeiro reporta a adaptação cultural e avaliação da fidedignidade da versĂŁo portuguesa do Lateral Preference Inventory (LPI). O segundo visou confirmar a fidedignidade da resposta online e observacional do LPI, alĂ©m de estudar a consistĂȘncia entre a dominĂąncia do membro inferior obtida pelo LPI e a seleção de membro inferior para a execução de quatro tarefas funcionais assimĂ©tricas (apoio unilateral com olhos abertos (UQSO) e fechados (UQSC), triplo salto unilateral em distĂąncia (SLJD) e saltitar unilateral (UH)). Os restantes capĂtulos visaram verificar diferenças nas medidas de JS entre DOM e NDOM na marcha, no SLTJD e no UH. A versĂŁo portuguesa do LPI foi criada com registo de boa fidedignidade (α>0,7) para a maioria dos itens e Ăndices. Boa fidedignidade foi registada entre as versĂ”es do LPI (α>0,7), com exceção da dominĂąncia de ouvido (α<0,5). A consistĂȘncia entre o LPI e a seleção de membro inferior nas tarefas foi nĂŁo aceitĂĄvel (α<0,5). NĂŁo foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre DOM e NDOM, com exceção do UH (p<0,05) na subfase propulsora de flexĂŁo plantar (PPF) para a DJS do tornozelo (ADJS). A JS poderĂĄ nĂŁo ser um indicador objetivo de dominĂąncia de membro inferior. Os dados suportam a atribuição de dominĂąncia ao membro de suporte ou mesmo a nĂŁo existĂȘncia de dominĂąncia no membro inferior. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The preference use of one limb in respect to it contralateral one leads to the idea that functional inter-limb differences are supposed to exist. The aim of the present thesis was to address those dominant (DOM) non-dominant (NDOM) inter-limb differences in respect to joint stability (JS), measured by means of dynamic joint stiffness (DJS), vertical stiffness (KVERT) and leg stiffness (KLEG). The conceptual and methodological elements were integrated in different chapters. The first describes the cross-cultural adaptation of the Portuguese version of the Lateral Preference Inventory (LPI) and it reliability study. The second addressed the reliability between an online and an observational form of the LPI, and the reliability of the LPI footedness score and the consistency of lower limb selection for the performance of functional tasks (unilateral quiet standing eyes open (UQSO) and closed (UQSC), single leg triple jump for distance (SLTJD) and unilateral hopping (UH). The other chapters aim to verify if differences exist between DOM and NDOM in the studied variables of the JS in the gait, SLTJD and UH. The Portuguese version of the LPI showed good reliability score (α>0,7) in the majority of LPIâs itens and indexes. Good reliability scores (α>0,7) were obtained between the two versions of the LPI, except for the eardness (α<0,5). No acceptable scores were obtained for the consistency between the footedness score from LPI and the consistency on lower limb selection for the tasks (α<0,5). No significant differences were found between DOM and NDOM, exception for the power plantar flexion (PPF) sub phase of the UH (p<0,05) at the ankle DJS (ADJS).Results indicate that JS fail to be an objective footedness indicator. The results indicate as dominant the support lower limb or even that no lower limb dominance exists. | pt_PT |
