Abstract(s)
In this work we present a proposal for the translation and study of Tertullian's text Ad Uxorem. This epistle to his wife written in the 3rd century serves as a documentary reference to understand how an author and thinker from that period understands the experience of marriage between Christians and its implications in their daily lives. This work has two main objectives: to make available the first translation 3 as far as we know 3 into Portuguese of Ad Uxorem, thus helping to enrich the always poor panorama of patristic texts available in the language of Camões; and understand, from this work and its author, how the first Christians «christianized» marriage, reconciling Roman traditions with the biblical vision.
