| dc.description.abstract | A sociedade atual carateriza-se pelo envelhecimento demográfico, em consequência do aumento dos níveis de esperança de vida e do declínio da natalidade, o que vem colocar novos desafios à família, ao Estado e à sociedade em geral. No presente Relatório, será abordada a temática do envelhecimento, dando importância à família e às relações intergeracionais; questionar-se-ão os motivos que levam à institucionalização das pessoas idosas bem como o papel atual do Estado em relação a esta faixa etária, defendendo a presença dos avós em contexto familiar. Partindo das alterações profundas que têm sofrido as relações familiares entre gerações, nas últimas décadas, verificamos que se foram perdendo as ligações dos mais novos com os mais velhos. Neste contexto, a instituição família tem hoje a necessidade de ajuda, uma vez que, por si só, já não é capaz de resolver todos os problemas que enfrenta. Deve ser apoiada pela escola, pelo Estado, pelas paróquias e pelos demais organismos que têm o dever de proteger e promover o bem-estar das famílias, começando por aquelas que se encontram numa situação mais vulnerável. Procura-se refletir sobre o papel dos avós e sua importância no fortalecimento de relações intergeracionais no seio da família, promovendo e defendendo a sua permanência em contexto familiar. Numa altura em que continua a aumentar o desemprego e se sucedem, infelizmente, separações e divórcios, bem como outros problemas que afetam as famílias, os avós são uma influência tranquilizadora. A família é a célula fundamental e vital da sociedade; tem um papel nobre, único e fundamental na assistência, na prestação de cuidados e na manutenção dos avós no contexto habitual. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Current society is characterized by demographic aging as a result of an increasing life expectancy and decreasing birth rates, which brings new challenges to family, state, and society as a whole. In this report I will deal with the subject of aging with an emphasis on family and intergenerational relations, the reasons for the institutionalization of the elderly, as well as the current role of the state as regards this age group, and I will advocate the presence of grandparents within the family. Looking at the deep changes that family relations between generations have gone through in the last decades, we can see that the connections of the young ones to the elderly have been gradually lost. In this light the family as an institution is in need of help nowadays since, by itself, it is no longer able to solve all the problems it faces. It must be supported by school, state, parishes and other agencies that have the duty to protect and promote the families' well-being starting with the ones in a more vulnerable situation. Consideration is given to the grandparents' role and importance in strengthening intergenerational relations within the family, promoting and defending their permanence there. At a time when unemployment is on the rise and separations and divorces unfortunately happen more and more, as well as other problems that affect families, grandparents are a tranquilizing influence. Family is society's fundamental and vital cell. It has a noble, unique and fundamental role in providing care, assistance and in maintaining grandparents in their habitual context. | pt_PT |
