The purpose of this Internship Report is to describe the activities carried out as an intern at SIC and to analyze the investigative exercise that resulted from this professional experience. The internship took place in the newsroom of Sociedade Independente de Comunicação (SIC), in Paço de Arcos, for a period of 6 months, between september 2022 and march 2023, and was developed in news blocks such as Edição da Manhã, Edição do Meio Dia and Primeiro Jornal. The aim of the research is to consider the effects that the cyber-attack, which took place on January 2, 2022 on SIC Notícias, had on the news product of this channel, in order to understand which themes were most dominant and the respective characteristics of this block of information. Based on these principles, the following research question was outlined: "Did the computer attack on SIC Notícias that took place on January 2, 2022 have an effect on the selection of thematic news categories in its newscasts in the first week of January compared to the following week?" To proceed with this research, a mixed methodological approach will be used, using a qualitative approach to gather exploratory data, with interviews with a member of the news channel's deputy management, the anchor who represents the SIC Notícias news block and the coordinator who was also the target of this cyber-attack. Subsequently, a quantitative methodology will be adopted to collect primary data that will be useful for systematizing a categorical analysis of the news. The research in this Internship Report concludes that the cyber-attack had a greater influence on the amount of news and information disseminated, since 135 news items were broadcast before the cyber-attack and only 71 after, than on the main thematic category of the news under study. This is mainly due to the fact that the period under analysis in relation to the cyber-attack also coincided with the strong presence of COVID19 in the world, which led to a greater predominance of allusive news in relation to the "health" thematic category of news, despite the fact that pertinent specificities were also found in the news under study.
