Abstract(s)
Although it has appeared as specific subject for companies, political and military organizations, leadership currently includes more areas, adapting itself in large-scale to everyday actions. One of the areas where leadership concepts and theories have been applied is education. The figure of the school’s manager, which is usually a teacher with some experience, has undoubtedly a prominent role, as this teacher is the leader of a certain educational institution. Through his example, this teacher can demonstrate the type of organizational climate that he wants to have in his institution. At the same time, the teacher also is in a position of influence on students, through his behaviour and ways of communicate. Thus, some leadership theories can be applied by the teacher, in the classroom context, with the propose of improving its performance as a carrier of important knowledge for the student’s formation and education. The teacher is also an educator that leads students to achieve their goals with commitment and satisfaction. As an illustrative example of the influence teachers can have on their students, this research presents a study of two universities, asking teachers and students by survey about moral values that they consider the most important for having a climate that fosters teaching and, consequently, a good functioning of the classroom.
