O presente trabalho procura analisar a estratégia que a União Europeia (UE) tem levado a cabo na região do mar Báltico, bem como os seus interesses geopolíticos nesta região, tendo como principal ponto de referência histórico o lançamento do projeto macrorregional, EUSBSR (European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region), apresentado pela Comissão Europeia, em 2009. É de salientar que este projeto de investigação pretende, ainda, focar-se nos desafios de segurança que se colocam à UE na defesa deste espaço marítimo e, desta forma, procurar compreender as implicações e os problemas inerentes.
This paper seeks to analyze the strategy that the European Union (EU) has been carrying out in the Baltic Sea region, as well as its geopolitical interests in this region, having as its main historical reference the launch of the macro-regional project, EUSBSR (European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region), presented by the European Commission in 2009. It should be noted that this dissertation also intends to focus on the security challenges facing the European Union in the defense of this maritime space and, in this way, seek to understand the implications and inherent problems.
