Esta investigação, de natureza qualitativa, pretendeu explorar as perceções de estudantes do ensino superior, acerca do desenvolvimento de competências em contextos interculturais, no contexto do projeto internacional Egalitarian. Através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, analisaram-se as experiências de cinco estudantes que integraram equipas internacionais em torno de desafios ligados ao tema da sustentabilidade. Os resultados evidenciam a relevância da experiência no desenvolvimento de competências como comunicação intercultural, empatia, trabalho em equipa, liderança e consciência social. Os participantes relataram um crescimento pessoal e académico, assim como uma maior sensibilidade às desigualdades sociais e ambientais. As vivências contribuíram para uma compreensão crítica do altruísmo e reforçaram o sentido de agência transformadora. Conclui-se que projetos internacionais durante a formação académica promovem aprendizagens significativas, potenciando uma formação mais holística, ética e comprometida socialmente.
This qualitative study aimed to explore the perceptions of higher education students regarding the development of skills in intercultural contexts, within the framework of the international Egalitarian project. Through semi-structured interviews, the experiences of five students who participated in international teams addressing challenges related to the sustainability theme were analyzed. The results highlight the relevance of the experience in developing skills such as intercultural communication, empathy, teamwork, leadership, and social awareness. Participants reported personal and academic growth, as well as increased sensitivity to social and environmental inequalities. These experiences contributed to a critical understanding of altruism and reinforced a sense of transformative agency. It is concluded that international projects during academic training foster meaningful learning, enhancing a more holistic, ethical, and socially engaged education.
