A Evangelização acompanhou Cabo Verde no seu crescimento desde o início da
sua povoação em 1462. O desenvolvimento da pastoral em Cabo Verde e a consequente
valorização do anúncio do Evangelho articulam-se com o processo de constituição da
Igreja como instrumento da Evangelização, uma vez que se pode constatar o valor da
missão da Igreja, pois vemos que missão é aquilo que chama e une os cristãos numa só
fé, através da catequese e da Eucaristia. A instrução dos fiéis na doutrina cristã foi
matéria que desde cedo preocupou as autoridades eclesiásticas.
Since Cape Vert started being populated in 1462, evangelization was a constant feature of its life. The growth of the Church´s mission in Cape Verd and subsequent importance given to the spread of the Gospel, contributed to the Church´s becoming an instrument of Evangelization. The worth of the Church´s action can be attested by the effect of the mass and the catechism in bringind the people together under a single faith. Indeed, from early days Cape Vert´s religious authorities were concerned with how the faithful were educated in the Christian doctrine.
