Abstract(s)
Esta dissertação centra-se, como o título indica, na “Leitura do Pensamento Bioético
de Paulo da Cruz (século XVIII), no seu epistolário”. É um trabalho original, de pesquisa
hermenêutica, debruçada sobre o epistolário de um pensador humanista, porque místico. Este
recuo diacrónico é coadjuvante na sincronia do pensamento bioético, porque o pensamento
de Paulo da Cruz, revelado no seu epistolário, enriquece-o, precisamente porque visa o agir
ético, ora dos agentes da saúde, ora de quem se interrelaciona, contribuindo também para o
incremento de um novo e rejuvenescido olhar, que favorece a pessoa, principalmente a
sofredora e vulnerável. O bem estar ou qualidade de vida das pessoas exige de todos um
desejável agir ético, que coadjuva a Bioética, na sua transdisciplinaridade, a interagir o
melhor possível, na defesa da vida, a partir dos seus quatro princípios fundamentais.
No meu ponto de vista, justifica-se o trabalho que apresento pois confirma a
relevância da área das Leitura em Bioética, que permitem essa viagem diacrónica ao
passado para enriquecer o presente na sua sincronia, em evolução permanente. Vi-me
enriquecido, como pessoa, por ter tido a possibilidade de o realizar, porque o outro sai
beneficiado. Inserido na área da Antropologia – Ética e Saúde, constatei que valeu a pena
ter-me embrenhado no pensamento que considero bioético de Paulo da Cruz, apesar de
afastado no tempo cronológico que o separa do nascimento do termo Bioética. Justificam-se
os pontos de convergência que encontrei e apresento dado o seu precioso contributo para o
tal agir ético, influente numa Bioética interventiva e eficiente.

I found myself more enriched, as a human being, for having had the opportunity of doing it, because “the other” benefits from it. Inserted into the area of Anthropology – Ethics and Health, I realized that it was worthwhile having engrossed myself in the thought which I consider bioethical of Paulo da Cruz, although away in chronological time that separates him from the advent of the word Bioethics.
