Abstract(s)
The exile, as a theme of comparative literature, has witnessed an upsurge by the research community that in recent decades has been devoted to exploring this issue in an interdisciplinary way, opening new perspectives and methodological approaches. In this study we account for António Sardinha’s exile in Spain due to political reasons, which allows us to understand through his poetry, the factual and emotional context that the absence and the distance determine, but also what the expatriate condition reveals in the encounter with the other, reflecting on the historical mission of the two Iberian countries which results in the Hispanic project of a peninsular alliance with multiple connections with Latin America.
