Introdução: O envelhecimento envolve progressivo comprometimento da autonomia
da pessoa idosa, estando essa susceptível a piora na qualidade de vida. Objetivo:
Avaliar a qualidade de vida dos idosos da microárea (bairro) Itapéua, no município
da Raposa – MA / Brasil. Metodologia: Trata-se uma pesquisa transversal,
exploratória, com variáveis quantitativas, realizada na cidade de Raposa, Maranhão,
com uma amostra não probabilística por conveniência de idosos a partir de 60 anos.
As variáveis socioeconômicas e demográficas foram sexo, idade, escolaridade,
ocupação/renda. Foi o utilizado o questionário Instrumento de Avaliação da
Qualidade de Vida (IAQdV). Resultados: Prevaleceram os idosos com 71 anos ou
mais, do gênero feminino, com ensino fundamental, residentes em imóvel próprio,
casados, aposentados, usufruindo de uma renda mensal de R$ 500,00 a 1000,00,
convivendo regularmente e possuindo um elevado número de filhos e netos. A
Qualidade de Vida Global se relacionou significantemente à idade, escolaridade,
ocupação, dificuldade de locomoção e à presença de doenças crônicas. A dimensão
Relações Sociais apresentou relação com idade, escolaridade, estado civil, convívio,
dificuldade de locomoção, presença de doença crônica e acesso às tecnologias, a
dimensão Bem-Estar Psicológico apresentou relação com escolaridade, ocupação e
número de netos, a dimensão Sentidos apresentou relação com acesso às
tecnologias. Não houve relação significativa das variáveis analisadas com as
dimensões Doenças e Vida Independente. Conclusão: Observaram-se valores
intermediários nas 5 dimensões (Doença, Vida Independente, Relações Sociais,
Sentidos e Bem-Estar Psicológico) e na Qualidade de Vida Global, o que requer
acompanhamento da população idosa a fim de evitar comprometimento nesse
aspecto. Para tanto, é essencial acompanhamento familiar, fortalecimento da rede
social e acompanhamento de doenças crônicas, o que exige o avanço nas políticas
públicas para essa população.

There was no relation of variables evaluated and the dimension Illness and Independent Life. Conclusion: Intermediate values were observed in the 5 dimensions (disease, independent life, social relations, senses and Psychological Well-Being) and Global Quality Of Life, which requires follow-up of the elderly population in order to avoid compromise in quality of life. For that, it is essential family monitoring, strengthening of the social network and monitoring of chronic diseases, this monitoring may contribute to the advancement of public policies for this population.
