Abstract(s)
The universal fraternity is a concept that shows our connection as humans, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic, or social differences. This concept is rooted in ideals of equality, solidarity and mutual respect. It is a moral and ethical principle that reminds us of our common bond and the importance of acting with compassion, respect, and solidarity towards others and the world around us. In the encyclical Laudato Si´ (May 24, 2015) and Fratelli Tutti (October 3, 2020), Pope Francis addresses crucial issues such as ecology, social justice, interreligious dialogue, social friendship, among others, emphasizing the importance of each of these concepts for building a more fraternal world. This research aims, on one hand, to show how the two encyclicals are interconnected and, on the other hand, to demonstrate the progression in Pope Francis's thinking, as well as his increasingly constant concern with a constantly evolving world and pressing global challenges.
