The recent changes regarding the regulation in the financial system also had their share of impact towards the collective investment schemes industry. This dissertation intents to provide guidance concerning the major legal transformations in this sector, introduced in the Portuguese and European jurisdictions. This essay stars with a critical analysis of the new Portuguese regime prescribe to the generality of mutual investment channels, and secondly it summarises the main measures adopted by the EU regarding alternative investment vehicles.
