Sendo a China uma civilização milenar e agrária, existe uma obra completa que
mostra aspetos da cultura agronómica arcaica e que se revela pouco conhecida no ocidente, Qi Min Yao Shu. Esta obra foi originalmente escrita em chinês arcaico por um agrónomo chamado Jia Sixie, da dinastia Wei do Norte (386 d.C. – 535 d.C.). Na língua chinesa arcaica, este título significa literalmente “Técnicas essenciais para que o povo obtenha meios de subsistência”. No presente projeto, procura-se realizar uma tradução indireta de parte da obra supramencionada, de mandarim para português europeu contemporâneo. O livro intitulado “齐民要术译注(修订本) [Qí mín yào shù yìz hù (xiūdìng běn)]”, cuja tradução literal é “Tradução e Anotações da obra Qi Min Yao Shu (Edição Revista)”, é composto pela tradução dessa obra clássica para mandarim e pelas explicações sobre
Qi Min Yao Shu escrito por Miao Qiyu e Miao Guilong. A tradução intralinguística
neste livro será utilizada como texto de partida. Após a tradução para português
europeu, serão levantadas questões relativas ao processo de tradução. Abordaremos as formas de ultrapassar as dificuldades de tradução e as respetivas técnicas de tradução utilizadas, enquadrando-as nos vários conceitos teóricos de tradução. Pretende-se demonstrar que uma tradução fiel é aquela que se adapta ao sistema linguístico do texto de chegada e, ao mesmo tempo, mantém as mensagens originais do autor.
In China, an ancient and agrarian civilization, there is a complete work that shows aspects of archaic agronomic culture, which is little known in the West, Qi Min Yao Shu. This work was originally written in ancient Chinese by an agronomist named Jia Sixie, from the Northern Wei dynasty (386 AD – 535 AD). In the ancient Chinese language, this title literally means “Essential techniques for people to obtain a means of subsistence”. In this project, we seek to carry out an indirect translation of part of the aforementioned work, from Mandarin to contemporary European Portuguese. The book entitled “齐民要术译注(修订本) [Qí mín yào shù yìz hù (xiūdìng běn)]”, whose literal translation is “Translation and Annotations of Qi Min Yao Shu (Revised Edition)”, is composed by a translation of this classic work into Mandarin and the explanations about Qi Min Yao Shu written by Miao Qiyu and Miao Guilong. The intralinguistic translation in this book will be used as the primary source text. After translating into European Portuguese, questions will be raised regarding the translation process. We will address ways to overcome translation difficulties and the respective translation techniques used, framing them within the various theoretical translation concepts. The aim is to demonstrate that a faithful translation is one that adapts to the linguistic system of the target text and, at the same time, maintains the author's original messages.
