Abstract(s)
The present project presents as general objective the understanding of well-being perceptions in older people who present a normal aging. Regarding the data collection procedure, 10 interviews were carried out, with 7 female participants and 3 male participants, ranging in age from 68 to 80 years. The semi-structured interview guide was the instrument used, consisting of 14 questions, adapted to the model of Carol Ryff, allowing to explore six dimensions: autonomy, mastery of the environment, personal growth, positive relationships with others, goals in life and acceptance of oneself. As main conclusions, it was verified that health, the domain of personal growth, self-acceptance and positive relationships with others seem to contribute to a greater perception of psychological well-being. However, the age factor associated with negative stereotypes is the biggest obstacle in this process. In a logic of implications for practice, it would be fundamental to contribute to the definition of an ethic of caring for older people, demystifying negative stereotypes of oneself and of society.
