| dc.description.abstract | Fr. João da Póvoa foi a maior figura do processo de estruturação e definição territorial e espiritual da Observância franciscana em Portugal, crucial e incontornável no processo de implantação e consolidação daquele movimento reformador menorita em Portugal até à sua morte, em 1506. Foi confessor de D. João II, colaborador de D. Leonor e de D. Manuel. Produto do incremento dos estudos na Observância, foi também um dos maiores impulsionadores da cultura entre os seus confrades e fautor do enriquecimento das bibliotecas e “scriptoria” dos cenóbios franciscanos coevos. Fr. João da Póvoa é talvez a maior figura da nova espiritualidade de finais de Quatrocentos, o religioso mais importante da sua Ordem, o mais ilustre da Observância e o clérigo que manteve mais fortes e praticantes os preceitos apostólicos da vida eclesial do seu tempo. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Fr. João da Póvoa was the major figure of the process of spiritual and territorial formation and definition of the Franciscan Observância in Portugal, crucial for the implantation and consolidation process of that menorit reformer movement in Portugal until his death in 1506. He was confessor of king D. João II, collaborator of queen D. Leonor and king D. Manuel. Product of the development of studies in the Observância, he was also one of the most important stimulator of culture among their confreres and achiever of the libraries and scriptoria enrichment of his coeval coenobium Franciscans. Fr. João da Póvoa is perhaps the greatest figure of the new spirituality of late XV century, the most important religious of his Order, the most illustrious of the Observância and the clergy who maintained the most strong and practicable apostolic procedures of ecclesial life in his time. | |
