Abstract(s)
Resume: Prebiotic supplementation is an extensively used strategy for treating several disorders. It plays key roles in promoting gut microbiota balance. Besides nutritional value, mushrooms are a rich source of bioactive compounds (e.g., α-/β-glucans) with prebiotic potential. While most research studies focus on testing extracts, a positive synergistic effect among mushroom biomass (MB) macromolecules has been proposed. This study aimed to assess the biochemical composition and the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) impact on MBs (Trametes versicolor-TV, Hericium erinaceus-HE, and Pleurotus ostreatus-PO) for the first time, coupled with human fecal fermentation study, to understand their gut microbiota modulation potential.
