This pilot study focused on evaluating the implementation process of the “Parentalidade e Vinculação Dropi” programme and its impact on parental competence, parental stress, and psychopathological symptomatology among families with children aged between 0 to 6 years (N = 10). Adopting a multimethod and multi-informant approach, data collection included structured observation, the conduction of a focus group and the administration of measures – BSI-18; PSS; PSOC –, administered at two assessment points (pre-test and post-test). The triangulation of findings indicated that the programme was implemented successfully, demonstrating positive indicators of fidelity and appropriateness. Although the quantitative analysis did not reveal statistically significant differences in the variables assessed between pre-intervention and post-intervention, post-test scores remained within the normative parameters for the Portuguese population. Qualitative findings highlighted participants’ positive perceptions of the group relational dynamics and the active and reflective methodologies employed, as well as perceived cognitive and emotional changes and improvements in mother–child relational interactions. These preliminary findings support the relevance and potential of the programme as a community-based parenting intervention and reinforce the need for future research involving larger and more diverse samples.
