| dc.description.abstract | The Net neutrality debate is closely tied to the telecommunication industry. It has the power to reshape and redefine the open Internet and partially the entire industry. The thesis conducted a research on to the European Net Neutrality Debate. Existing studies in this field have focused primarily on technological requirements, economic analysis, or regulatory justifications. However this research tries to investigate, if the current European regulations are protecting and considering the telecommunication industry enough in their laws. The industry is facing dramatic changes and new developments, which indirect could weaken or strengthen their position on the debate. New investments in high-speed networks, the implementation and research of the new mobile generation -5G and revenue losses, due to the disruptive technology offered by the OTT, the telecom industry is facing pressure. New players are competing and forcing the telecommunication industry to reinvent itself. However is the European regulator is taking partially notice of those changes and provides in some areas financial and legal support. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | O debate sobre a neutralidade da rede está intimamente ligado ao setor de telecomunicações. Ele tem o poder de reformular e redefinir a Internet aberta e parcialmente toda a indústria. A tese realizou uma pesquisa sobre o Debate sobre a neutralidade da rede européia. Os estudos existentes neste campo têm se concentrado principalmente em requisitos tecnológicos, análise econômica ou justificativas regulatórias. No entanto, esta pesquisa tenta investigar, se os regulamentos europeus atuais estão protegendo e considerando a indústria de telecomunicações suficiente em suas leis. A indústria está enfrentando mudanças dramáticas e novos desenvolvimentos, que indiretos poderiam enfraquecer ou fortalecer sua posição sobre o debate. Novos investimentos em redes de alta velocidade, a implementação e pesquisa da nova geração móvel -5G e as perdas de receita, devido à tecnologia disruptiva oferecida pela OTT, a indústria de telecomunicações está enfrentando pressão. Novos jogadores estão competindo e forçando a indústria de telecomunicações a se reinventar. No entanto, o regulador europeu está tomando parcialmente em conta essas mudanças e fornece, em algumas áreas, apoio financeiro e legal. | pt_PT |
