Abstract(s)
Civic and political participation is something developed on a continuum that spans through different levels of education. Education is the basis of human development, it is a process that impacts social, emotional and intellectual dimensions, which allows knowledge acquisition. It is an ongoing process that contributes to the civic and political shaping of individuals. The lower levels of civic and political participation of women in relation to men make Psychology's role fundamental to understand what facilitators and obstacles are on the way of civic and political participation of women. In this sense, this study explores the role of formal, non¬formal and informal education in the civic and political participation of a group of 10 women, identifying which are the facilitators and obstacles on civic and political participation. The data reveals that informal education is the one that most impacts women's civic and political participation. The family's influence has a significant weight, which points to the fact that young women who grow up in families with little civic and political knowledge, are in a position of greater fragility in relation to opportunities for civic and political development. Therefore, the school plays a fundamental role in making education more fair, enabling young people to participate in civic and political life.
