A apresentação do presente relatório visa a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Microbiologia Aplicada, de acordo com o estabelecido no regulamento para obtenção do Grau de Mestre por licenciados “Pré-Bolonha”, que abrange os licenciados com pelo menos cinco anos de experiência profissional. Durante a minha vida profissional tive a oportunidade de tirar partido da abrangência inerente à área de Microbiologia nos diferentes sectores onde tenho trabalhado. Ao longo de 10 anos, desde a finalização da minha Licenciatura, exerci as seguintes profissões: Professor de Ciências Naturais para o Ministério da Educação. De 13 de maio até 20 de junho de 2009 na Escola Básica 2/3 de Fajões no concelho de Oliveira de Azeméis, Aveiro. De 09 de março até 23 de abril de 2010 na Escola Secundária Oliveira Júnior no concelho de São João da Madeira, Aveiro; Formador de Nutrição e Dietética para o Ministério da Solidariedade, Emprego e Segurança Social. De junho até dezembro de 2009 no Centro de Formação Profissional do Porto - Sector Terciário, Porto e de março a junho de 2010 na Junta de Freguesia de Pedroso no Concelho de Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto; Oficial do Exército para o Ministério da Defesa Nacional desde 26 de julho de 2010 até 01 de maio de 2014, tendo sido colocado A 8 de janeiro de 2011 no Regimento de Guarnição Nº3, no Funchal; Laboratory Technician na empresa Florida Biologix de março de 2015 até março de 2016 em Alachua, Flórida, EUA; Biological Technician na Instituição University of Florida de março até novembro de 2016 em Alachua, Flórida, EUA; Associate Research Technologist na Instituição Arizona State University de dezembro de 2016 até à presente data em Maricopa, Arizona, EUA. Com a diversidade de atividades profissionais pude pôr em prática o que aprendi e adquirir novas valências não só profissionais como pessoais. Ao longo da minha carreira profissional mantive uma atualização permanente do conhecimento à medida das tarefas desempenhadas, nomeadamente no apoio ao fabrico e no controlo de qualidade de produtos biológicos e no campo da investigação e inovação científica. Aprendi a comunicar, de forma clara e sustentada, os meus conhecimentos e conclusões a diferentes públicos. Estas valências são essenciais ao perfil de um Mestre em Microbiologia Aplicada.
The presentation of this report aims to obtain a Master's Degree in Applied Microbiology, in accordance with the regulations to obtain a Master's Degree by "Pre-Bologna" graduates, which covers graduates with at least five years of professional experience. During my professional life I had the opportunity to take advantage of the broad spectrum of Microbiology in the different sectors where I have worked. Over the last ten years, since the completion of my degree, I have pursued the following professions: Natural Sciences’ Teacher for the Ministry of Education. From May 13th to June 20th, 2009 at the 2/3 Fajões Basic School in Aveiro. From March 9th to April 23rd, 2010 at Oliveira Junior High School in Aveiro; Instructor of Nutrition and Dietetics for the Ministry of Solidarity, Employment and Social Security. From June to December 2009 at the “Centro de Formação Profissional do Porto - Sector Terciário”, in Porto and from March to June 2010 at Pedroso’s Town Hall in Vila Nova de Gaia; Army Officer for the Ministry of National Defense from July 26th, 2010 until May 1st, 2014, and was placed on January 8th, 2011 in “Regimento de Guarnição Nº3”, in Funchal; Laboratory Technician at Florida Biologix from March 2015 to March 2016 in the Alachua County, Florida, USA; Biological Technician at University of Florida from March through November 2016 in the Alachua County, Florida, USA; Associate Research Technologist at Arizona State University from December 2016 to the present date in the Maricopa County, Arizona, USA. With these diversity of professional activities I was able to put into practice what I learned and acquire new, not only professional, but personal skills. Throughout my professional career I have been continuously updating my knowledge, namely in supporting the manufacture and quality control of biological products and in the field of scientific research and innovation. I learned to communicate, in a clear and precise way, my knowledge and conclusions to different audiences. These skills are essential to an Applied Microbiology Master.
