Infertility and the use of Medically Assisted Reproduction (MAR) techniques are becoming increasingly common, with a significant impact on the psychological and relational well-being of women undergoing these processes. Despite growing demand and scientific advances, research conducted in Portugal on the experiences of women who achieve a successful pregnancy through MAR is still limited. The overall aim of this study was to explore the perspectives and experiences of women who successfully underwent MAR. The study employed a qualitative methodology, drawing on semi-structured interviews that were subsequently analysed using NVivo 14 software. The results show that MAR is experienced as an emotionally demanding journey, marked by anxiety, hope, fear of failure and the need for resilience, with marital support and an empathetic relationship with healthcare professionals emerging as central to a more positive adjustment. These findings reinforce the importance of integrating specialised psychological support and the promotion of more humanised healthcare practices capable of meeting women’s emotional needs throughout the entire reproductive process.
