Nesta comunicação procurou-se, através de uma abordagem multidisciplinar, focada em aspetos documentais, formais, e planimétricos, organizar, salientando a sua continuidade em relação à Idade Média, uma genealogia de dois momentos-chave da arquitetura religiosa da segunda metade do século XVI no Noroeste português: a “igreja-caixa” do tipo Misericórdia e igreja de nave única e capelas laterais comunicantes.
In this paper we tried, through a multidisciplinary approach, focused on documental, formal and planimetric aspects, to organize, emphasizing its continuity with the Middle Ages, a genealogy of two key moments in the religious architecture of the second half of the sixteenth century in the Portuguese Northwest: the “plain box” Misericórdia type church and the single nave church with interconnected lateral chapels.
