Abstract(s)
e, assim, obter informações interessantes acerca destes.
“Be grandparent” It is a remarkable event, even though it is less common in these days. The grandchildren are a source of stimulation to the seniors, contributing against the aging and providing them a better quality of life. In order to understand, if the existence of grandchildren has implication in the quality of life in the senior people, we conducted a study of descriptive and comparative gender. The research was segregated into two phases: in the first phase, it was used a quantitate approach, the instrument used for the first phase evaluation was “WHOQOL-Bref”, proposed by the WHO and validated to the Portuguese people, together with a questionnaire of 25 individuals with grandchildren and 25 individuals without grandchildren, belonging to Lisbon District; in the second phase, it was used a qualitative approach, we applied an semi-structured interview to 5 individuals with grandchildren and to 5 individuals without grandchildren, belonging to Amadora Region. The obtained results showed no significant differences between the studied groups. However, it was possible to observe some differences and similarities between the groups, and get interesting information about those.
