A presente dissertação percorre a via investigativa – na intersecção dos campos da literatura, arte e educação –, para entender as relações entre a matéria e a ideia na escrita da memoria. Ou, em outras palavras, como o pensar e o fazer se influenciam mutuamente. Tem como ponto de partida uma oficina-encontro realizada com um grupo de mulheres durante uma semana no sertão mineiro que, a partir de um dialogo literário entre Portugal e Brasil, pelos textos de Guerra Junqueiro e Guimarães Rosa, trabalharam suas memorias afetivas e culturais por meio da técnica da bordadura. Os 26 bordados produzidos transformaram-se em um livro-objeto (ou objecto-livro), que foi sendo construído de forma concomitante a escrita do texto dissertativo convocando a aliança entre o pensar e o fazer também durante a investigação. A metodologia utilizada, ao trazer a esfera da experiência para junto de si, levou a um texto que se construiu de forma orgânica, ao respeitar um curso continuo de pensamento. A Introdução e o ponto de partida da chamada dissertação-viagem, porquanto realizada in via, e convida a Geografia para, junto com a Historia e com os Estudos Culturais, pensarem, contemporaneamente, as questões da Identidade. Os capítulos um e dois trabalham os desdobramentos que as paisagens – naturais, humanas e culturais – exercem sobre as pessoas e suas formas de se reconhecerem e, a partir dai, o capitulo três busca entender em que bases se construiu o livro-objeto. Este que se transformou em um monumento de memoria coletiva de um lugar e de suas pessoas.
The present dissertation goes through the investigative route – at the intersection of the fields of literature, art and education –, to understand the relations between matter and idea in the writing of memory. Or, in other words, how thinking and making influence each other mutually. It has as its starting point a week-long workshop-meeting performed with a group of women in the hinterland of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, that, from a literary dialog between Portugal and Brazil, through the texts of Guerra Junqueiro and Guimaraes Rosa, worked their affective and cultural memories through the embroidery technique. The 26 embroideries produced became a book-object (or object-book), that was made concomitantly to the writing of the dissertation text, summoning the alliance between thinking and making also during the investigation. The methodology used, by bringing the sphere of experience close to it, resulted in a text that was built in an organic way, by respecting the continuity of thought. The introduction is the starting point of the so-called dissertation-journey, inasmuch executed in via, and invites Geography, along with History and the Cultural Studies, to think, contemporarily, about the Identity. The chapters one and two expose the developments that landscapes – natural, human and cultural – exert over people and their way of recognizing each other and, from that, the chapter three pursues to understand in which bases the book-object was built upon. This one that has become a monument of collective memory of a place and of its people.
