Abstract(s)
Can we consider performative creation without considering the public dimension of the
presentation apparatus in itself? Does it make sense to consider music creation for live
2
settings without taking into account the crucial aspects of sound diffusion and the listening
situation?
Following this line of inquiry, the text tackles the problem of non-production of gestural
information, a fundamental dimension in traditional musical performance, seen from the
point of view of electronic creators and performers.
In the specific case of electronic music, when considering its performative dimension,
fundamental aspects emerge, such as the relationship with the audience distribution in the
performance space and the value of gesture as an intrinsic element in carrying the musical
program to the audience.
Concurrently, creative strategies are identified that can act as indicators of new production
paradigms, from which a crucial question emerges: is a concert fundamentally a time for
listening or for watching?
