| dc.description.abstract | Currently, in a data-driven world, companies are looking for new ways to improve decision-making processes and performance. This case study investigates the impact of Business Analytics techniques on reporting at OLI Sistemas Sanitários S.A. The study addresses the following questions: How do Business Analytics techniques assist companies and managers in decision-making?; What are the benefits of using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, R, Python, or SQL in reports?; What is the perception of employees regarding the introduction of these tools in their tasks?; What are the objectives of managers when incorporating these techniques into the decision-making process? In this sense, it resorts to reports developed during the internship in the company and qualitative interviews applied to workers of the same. This study reveals that incorporating Business Analytics techniques allows for a greater understanding of the company's operations, the discovery of crucial insights for competitiveness, support of decision-making, and overall performance optimization of the company. Regarding the limitations of this research, it focuses on a specific company, thus future studies should cover different companies and sectors. Further investigation should also explore the development of training programs to improve the knowledge and skills of professionals in these areas. Furthermore, upcoming research should focus on making the "black box" nature of some techniques more transparent and understandable to users. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Atualmente, num mundo orientado por dados, as empresas procuram novas formas de melhorar os processos de tomada de decisão e desempenho. Este estudo de caso investiga o impacto das técnicas de Business Analytics na elaboração de relatórios da OLI Sistemas Sanitários S.A. O estudo aborda as seguintes questões: Como é que técnicas de Business Analytics auxiliam as empresas e os gestores na tomada de decisão?; Quais os benefícios de usar ferramentas como Microsoft Excel, Power BI, R, Python ou SQL em relatórios?; Qual a perceção dos funcionários quanto à introdução destas ferramentas nas suas tarefas?; Quais os objetivos dos gestores ao incorporar estas técnicas no processo de tomada de decisão? Nesse sentido, recorreram-se a relatórios desenvolvidos durante o estágio na empresa e a entrevistas qualitativas aplicadas a trabalhadores da mesma. O presente estudo revela que a incorporação de técnicas de Business Analytics permite uma maior compreensão das operações da empresa, descoberta de insights cruciais para a competitividade, auxílio à tomada de decisão e otimização geral do desempenho da empresa. No que concerne às limitações desta investigação, esta centra-se numa empresa específica, deste modo, futuros estudos devem abranger diferentes empresas e setores. Devem ainda explorar o desenvolvimento de programas formativos para melhorar o conhecimento e as habilidades dos profissionais nessas áreas. Ademais, futuras pesquisas devem focalizar-se em tornar a natureza "caixa negra" de algumas técnicas mais transparente e compreensível para os utilizadores. | pt_PT |
