Abstract(s)
No início do processo
vontades e gostos, é elaborado um Plano Individual (PI).
Aging is one of the watchwords of our times. A better quality of life, services and the advancement of tecnology allowed the average life expectancy to increase. With the increase in the number of elderly people, the search for answers to the needs of this public has also increased. One of the most frequently sought answers is the Residential Structure for the Elderty. The entry of an elderly persom to an Residential Structure for the Elderty can be seen both as an opportunity, a place where they will have the necessary care, as a distressing process, since people leave their home, theire routines and often the community itself. At the beginning of the institutionalization process, in order to preserve each individual’s authenticity, desires and tastes, a Individual Plan is prepared. This should be considered throughout the journey of the elderl person in the institution. The presente study aims to understand how the Indivdual Plan influences the quality of the institutionalization process. The study is qualitative, with three case studies carried out and the data treated through contente analysis. The sample of this study consists of three institutions, corresponding to na elderly person and a technical director to each one. The main results showed that there are opinions in a more positive perspective, in which the Individual Plan is a useful tool, both for the elderly and for the work done by the technicians, as well as opinions in a more negative perspective, in which the technical directors do not consider the Individual Plan as such also essential for the care of the elderly. Also on the side of the elderly, they do not know what i tis about when approached with the Individual Plan issue.
