Abstract(s)
This work arises in the context of a Master’s Degree of Professional Nature in Medical Surgical Nursing, related to the Internship module, having been chosen as clinical contexts the Operating Room, General Emergency Service and Intensive Care Unit for the development of competencies inherent to the Specialist Medical-Surgical Nurse (SMSN). Pressure Ulcers (PU) continue to register significant incidence and prevalence values on nursing care, with a strong impact on the critically ill person. Despite the many studies that have been carried out, prevention and treatment measures are not producing the desired effectiveness to reduce the occurrence of PUs. The implementation of a Systematic Literature Review allowed the identification of the knowledge deficit in nurses, at the level of PUs prevention and treatment, being one of the reasons found to its continuous appearance. Following the improvement on the specialized nursing care for the person in critical situation, and personal and professional development, other scientific works, such as a poster and open communication, have been carried out, which have produced benefits in nurses knowledge about PUs, as well as strategies for results dissemination and communication skills to audiences. The inherent competencies to the SMSN developed, as well as the various objectives and activities carried out, are consolidated in this work, demonstrating the deepening of knowledge, the technical and critical-reflexive analysis skills acquisition, for a methodology of effective assistance to the person in critical situation and the achievement of the SMSN Degree and the Master’s Degree. It is expected that the knowledge acquired in this work will be a source of information for the continuous care improvement provided to the person in critical situation, always aiming their well-being, comfort and life quality.
